Geoffrey A. Funk, MD, FACS

Dr. Geoffrey Funk attended Texas A&M University for his undergraduate education, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a second bachelor’s degree in Genetics. During that time, he also minored in English and Chemistry and became a licensed paramedic, volunteering his services extensively. He proceeded to earn his MD at the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center where he graduated with honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Funk spent the next five years completing his residency in General Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and became board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery in 2010. He completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center prior to returning to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas as an Attending Surgeon in General and Trauma Surgery/Surgical Critical Care.

In 2011, Dr. Funk was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center and also received the distinction of being selected as the Clerkship Director for all medical students at the Dallas campus.
